A new Komori Lithrone SX40 printing press is running, and the printing team is delighted with its speed and automated features. “We are running full production on the press now,” said Tim Riegling, Printing/Finishing Manager.
“The extra capacity -up to 18,000 sheets per hour-allows us to satisfy the needs of customers who need longer runs.”According to Riegling the new press is fully automated, allows for quicker changeovers, comes up to color faster, and the repeat ability is far greater and more consistent than any other press.
“This is more than just a shiny new toy, with the extra capacity, we can be more price competitive on larger jobs because of press speeds, and reduced make-ready costs.”
And to keep pace with growing printing business, Prepress has upgraded to a new Javelin platesetter.
“This new machine increases our platemaking capacity to 21 printing plates per hour, as opposed to 6 per hour on our old system,” said Elliott Eckert, Prepress Manager. This process will give Prepress increased capabilities to keep our printing presses supplied with plates.”
